Plenty of Pinter

If you're spending the summer in Boston, don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the work of Harold Pinter, one of the Media Librarian's favorite writers. The American Repertory Theatre is performing a new production of his play No Man's Land, while the Harvard Film Archive is presenting a series highlighting Pinter's achievements as a screenwriter. Alas,
you have missed The Pumpkin Eater, which was shown May 13, but you can watch our video (V2359).

Media Services has many of the other films the Harvard Film Archive is showing:
The Homecoming(DVD 940) Peter Hall's film version of his original Royal Shakespeare Company production, starring Vivien Merchant, Pinter's wife at the time.
The Servant(V 153): one of the few instances of the movie being better than the book. Directed by Joseph Losey.
Accident (V 2420) Another Losey-Pinter collaboration, adapted, with key alterations, from the novel by Nicholas Mosley.
Betrayal (V 644) The film adaptation of Pinter's play about a love affair told in reverse.
The French Lieutenant's Woman(V 313) Incredibly clever adaptation by Pinter of John Fowles' novel, using two narratives featuring the same actors, but taking place in two centuries.

Unfortunately, we don't have The Last Tycoon or The Comfort of Strangers--you'll have to go to Harvard for those.
Best wishes for a Pinteresque summer!
