Hooray the library is open again! Since people will be trickling in and out, I'm going to go ahead and give you another book recommendation. This time, it's The Complete Essays of Mark Twain. Why should you read this? Because Mark Twain was funny, witty, clever, wore spectacularly dapper white suits, had a killer 'stache, and because without him, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert don't have jobs.

You should have more GRE prep books available, particularly more updated ones as the test is in the process of changing. I need to borrow one, but can't get a hold on any copies to take out from either the FLO or BPL catalogs.

Thanks for the suggestion. We’ll order it.
Historical Dictionary of Chile (3rd edition) by Salvatore BizzarroDo you mind if we ask why you’re recommending this title? It seems very specific and not related to Emerson’s curriculum. I don’t see any History courses relating to South America in the catalog. If you can provide me with a strong rationale for it, we’ll consider the book, but because it’s fairly expensive and out of scope, we wouldn’t be inclined to purchase it. In general, we will purchase reference books that support the curriculum or are in demand from a variety of students and faculty.
Gender Trouble - Judith Butler (hard copy, or online available to Emerson?)
We have 2 copies of this book. As of 11/16, one copy is checked out, and one copy is available in the library, call number HQ1154 .B88 1990. Please check with a librarian if you can’t find it.
Can we have more self-teaching computer manuals for programs like “Adobe Final Cut” + “Photoshop?” They’re hard to keep updated + are expensive, so having multiple students use them would be useful.
We try to keep the computer manuals up-to-date, but it’s tough since they release new versions so frequently. We have 8 manuals for Final Cut published between 2006 and 2008, and 7 manuals for Photoshop published between 2006 and 2008. But we’ll order a few more. And if you have any specific titles in mind, just let us know.

I would really like to see a more complete collection of sci-fi/fantasy fiction in the library. Authors such as Judith Tarr, Tad Williams, Gene Wolfe, and even Ursula K. Le Guin are either absent or woefully under-represented. For example, you have books 1, 2, and 4 (of ) of the Earthsea Cycle by Le Guin, which is a classic fantasy work. The Farthest Shore is missing. And The Tomb of Atuan is in very poor condition.
Thanks for your suggestions. We’ll replace several of the older Le Guin paperbacks and order The Farthest Shore. We have several books by Gene Wolfe and we’ll order titles by the other authors you suggested. If you have any other recommendations, please let us know.
Oliver Sacks - “Musicophilia: Tales of Music & the Brain”
