For those in the Emerson community who have been searching in vain for the Library film and video collection, here's the scoop--
We moved to the main floor of the Library.
Yes, it's all here--if you walk through the main door of the Library, on the third floor of the Walker Building, and gaze at the far wall, you'll notice a window. Looks something like a fast food drive-up window, or maybe a bank teller window . . . or maybe a confessional. But what it actually is, is the gateway to the media treasures you know and love, plus some cool new titles.
Same deal: faculty can borrow titles for use in classes or for preview, and students must view everything inhouse. BUT we have totally upgraded your inhouse viewing options. The 4th and 5th floor study rooms are comfortable, can seat small groups, and are fully equipped with tables and dvd and vhs decks.
So, it's all good. Stop by and check out our new digs.
New and cool this week:
For those who have seen Professor John Gianvito's Profit Motive and the Whispering Wind and have wanted to find out more about Howard Zinn, the historian whose "A People's History of the United States" inspired the filmmaker, come in and look at Howard Zinn: You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train. A solid profile of the man and his work, with music by Billy Bragg, Woody Guthrie, and Pearl Jam.
