Emerson College Video Streaming Services
I want to promote a a video streaming kit that the Media Services Center has available to borrow. This kit consists of a laptop that acts as a streaming server, and a video camera with a FireWire out. Here is some information about this service straight from the Media Services Video Streaming Policy Document:
Who Can Stream Events
Faculty, students, and staff may borrow this equipment to stream Emerson College affiliated activities. Students must be borrowing this equipment as a member of an SGA recognized club/organization, or a registered participant in a college course. Users borrowing equipment to stream college special events must be working on behalf of the main organizer of the event. To borrow this equipment students must obtain sponsorship from an Emerson College Faculty or Staff member. Application to reserve this equipment may be accessed by calling Cheryl Schaffer Head of Media Services at 617-824-8406. This application must be followed up with an email from the Faculty or Staff member sponsoring this video/audio stream.
Appropriate Use Statement
Streaming services are intended to aid the access of academic endeavors including course material, special events, and other campus related activities. College community members that are creating streaming material are reminded to use the streaming system responsibly, and to comply with Federal and Commonwealth of Massachusetts laws. Users must also comply with the Emerson College’s electronic policy, the College’s Student Code of Conduct, and all applicable College rules and policies. Furthermore, as streaming propagates globally, please ensure that you have secured rights to use all the materials which you include in your stream for which you are not the copyright holder. Users must obtain written release forms from any on screen participants of the video/audio stream. This form can be obtained from Cheryl Schaffer at Media Services. (617-824-8406).
Support and Training On The Use Of Equipment
Users who have properly made a reservation for the use of streaming kit will pick up this equipment at the Media Services Center, (3rd floor of 180 Tremont). Media Services will provide full training on the use of this equipment. Technical questions and general problem solving assistance can be obtained by contacting the IT computer Help Desk. (617-824-8080).
