Huckabee Wins West Virgina Caucus, Earns 18 Delegates

2/5/08 -  Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee took the first Super Tuesday win earlier today, collecting all 18 West Virginia delegates in the Republican caucuses there.

His win came in a second round of voting, after the first ballots cast produced no clear winner. When caucus-goers recast their votes, McCain supporters shifted support to Huckabee, launching him to 51.5 percent of the 1,100 votes cast. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won 47.4 percent.

This comes after recent suggestions from Romney that the former Arkansas governer and Baptist preacher is remaining in the race in hopes of splitting the conservative vote. Huckabee has rejected this idea, saying, "I am running for president."
