Hillary Rallies Hard For Obama

Tonight was Hillary's night. She took the stage at the Pepsi Center in front of a gigantic blue screen broadcasting her name. Senator Clinton faced a thunderous ovation from thousands and a gigantic sea of Hillary signs. But even though this was her night, Ms. Clinton switched focus back to her former rival.

"Barack Obama is my candidate and he must be our president," she said to a roaring room of applause. The New York sentator faced her supporters, many who were still hesitant to jump on the Obama train. She reassured them that he is the right candidate if they agree with her own beliefs.

"The time is now to unite with a single party and with a single purpose," she said. Senator Clinton went on to warn them that "We are on the same team and none of us can afford to sit on the sidelines."

These remarks come on the heels of a recent USA Today/Gallup poll that shows only 47% of Hillary Clinton supporters solidly back Obama.
During her primary and caucus fights, Senator Clinton had gotten 18 million votes. She talked tonight about those "18 million cracks in the glass ceiling" and her "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits."

But she went on to challenge her staunchest supporters, hoping to sway them to support Barack Obama saying, "I want you to ask yourselves, were you in this campaign just for me?" She went on to ask if they were rallying for her because of her, or because of the issues and the state of the country. Senator Clinton also took on GOP presidential candidate Senator John McCain, saying he was her friend but "No way, no how, no McCain."
