Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was in Londonderry, New Hampshire to rally supporters in that key battleground state. Recent polls show Obama holding a 5 point lead over his Republican opponent Senator John McCain.

However, despite the promising outlook, he told the crowd he learned a valuable lesson in the Granite State last January. "I learned right here with the help of my great friend and supporter Hillary Clinton, you can't let up," he said. Senator Clinton had won the state's Democratic primary when Obama was well ahead of her in many polls.

Thursday rain showers could not keep the large crowd from coming out to a local apple orchard to hear what Obama had to say. He focused mainly on the economy and tax relief for the middle class. "I'll do what you do in your own family budgets -- spend money wisely," he told the crowd.

Obama's visit to New Hampshire comes just one day after the third and final presidential debate, and the day after a string of events hosted by McCain's running mate, Governor Sarah Palin.
