Voter turnout is significantly higher than four years ago in the Bay State, with almost 200,000 ballots cast by 3 p.m., elections officials said.  This Election Day has brought 17 percent more Massachusetts residents to the polls than in 2004.

Jamaica Plain has had the greatest turnout at the polls, with 49.09 percent of registered voters completing ballots so far. Residents in Somerville, Boston's South End, Pittsfield and Lawrence lined up for blocks at their respective polling stations in the unusual 60-degree temperatures earlier today.
