Remembering the Dream
This evening, the Lady Soul herself Aretha Franklin will be performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. George Washington University has teamed up with the Kennedy Center to pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by hosting a musical celebration.
This concert will begin at 6PM and is a part of the free daily Millennium Stage. An interesting twist to this historic and celebratory event is that the only way to get in is to have a free ticket. This afternoon tickets were being distributed one per person beginning at 4 pm. Hundreds of fans hoped to get the chance to see and hear from the Soul-stress herself by waiting hours upon hours. Many showed up at 6AM just to receive one of these prized possessions.
Additional performances will include the hip-hop violin duo Nuttin' But Stringz and the Let Freedom Ring Choir. These groups along with the Lady Soul hope to pay their R-E-S-P-E-C-T to Dr. King on this historic Inaugural Eve in Washington, D.C.
