The Boston Globe is killing my Matt Abs

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

I am in the process of getting my Matt abs on but it's not an easy mission.

Just recently, I was minding my own business and reading the G section of the Globe when I came across a little story about some Bostonians coming up with their own blogs. This is fine and fucking dandy until I started reading about what their blogs were about.

The blogs were about food!

How to make food!

How to eat food!

I am trying to lose weight here and I am reading about sites called BEWARE THE FOOD

and Pam's Cheap Eats not to mention Poor Girl Gourmet.

The aforementioned list ways to cook duck, buttermilk biscuits, quince jam, and french toast with caramel sauce on them among many, many other things!!

I am going to have stop reading the Globe. There is no other way around it.

Don't they know I want Matt Abs?

Those BASTARDS!!

It's 0612 in the morning...

I might as well just go back to bed....

I'm depressed!

Getting by Matt abs on.

I finally made it to the gym on Sunday evening. I used this stair-climber-thing-a-mig for 30 minutes and though I could barely walk afterwards, I felt great!

I have started to read, The Abs Diet by David Zinczenko.

I am hoping to get abs like Matthew McConaughey

How long will it take?

I didn't have any beers over the weekend. That's a start.

I did have broccoli and cauliflower with dinner last night. Hey, that's another start.

I made some banana bread and got my potassium and fruit in...Hey..I'm on a roll.

Wait a second...Wait a cotton-pickin' second....

I don't need no stickin' book. The picture of Matt and his abs is doing the trick for me.

What inspiration!!!

I'm enlightened!

I'm energized!!

Cue the Star-Spangled Banner!!

 '

I think I will even take up naked bongo-playing!!!

I have always wanted to learn a musical instrument!!!

Thanks Matt! Thanks!!

I am heading to the gym!!!

Late night dinner

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Wednesday nights are the worst, especially last night!

I decided to take the T into Boston from Quincy yesterday and paid the price for it last night because I had to take the return trip from Boston to Quincy via the lovely Red Line.

I figured I would save on some money to buy lunch considering I was spending the whole day at school. I had my noon graduate assistant class which I like to call my grad. ass. class and then I had 4 hours inbetween to wait for Interactive News. By the time I returned to my apartment last night it was 10:30 pm.

I kissed the girlfriend and chit-chatted a bit and then turned my attention to dinner.

I have always heard it is bad to eat right before you go to bed. Not sure where I read this or who told me? Maybe it was my wise old French-Canadian mother. The same one who gave us 3 big buckets of sauce to take back with us when we visited Maine this past weekend.

Maybe a bowl of cereal last night may have been sufficent but noooooooo...

I went with a full-course meal...Made some pasta..Heated up this marinara sauce with meatballs...Baked up 6 or 7 chicken tenders and threw them into my bowl of spaghetti for my own little chicken parm/meatball dinner. All of this at nearly 11 pm at night.

Of course, I had a piece of blueberry pie that was just looking kind of lonely sitting there on the counter.

I went to bed around 11:30 pm.

When I got out of the shower this morning, I paraded myself in front of the mirror. This was not a pretty sight to behold! I will save the excruciating details but let me just say I think I may have to order The Bro. I hear it's a big seller in Japan thanks to George's father on Seinfeld.

I have already made reservations to the gym for this evening. Yeah..yeah..you have heard it before..I know but this time I mean it! I swear! For the love of God! I am not lying!

Next Weds., I am bound and determined to drive to school as to not eat so late at night.

Damn that train!

Tasty burger with the redemption of fruit

Let it be known!

I love banana bread!

Not as much as cold pizza or reheated Chinese at 7 am but close enough.

I am not poo-pooing my breakfast today. I ate fruit. I had bananas.

Potassium and vitamins and good for you stuff. I even added FAT FREE cream to my coffee this morning. I am on a roll.

I didn't make it to the gym last night. Not sure what happened?

Maybe it was the thought of that big juicy medium-well done hamburger with mayo, ketchup,

and relish slathered all over it that distracted my well-being. I did Jimmy Buffett proud.

 cheeseburger in paradise

If you were wondering, I did have a veggie medley of water chestnuts, sugar snapped peas, brocolli and carrots as a side along with the staple of crispy-cut french fries. Adding the veggies would not had made Jimmy Buffett proud but Drill Sergeant Julia made me eat them.

Have you ever cried after eating the best burger of your entire life? Sniff, sniff, whimper, whimper, please let me change the subject.

Actually I can't go on, I am too heartbroken over my burger.

Until next time.

Chinese Continental Breakfast

Chinese Continental Breakfast

The best thing in the world is eating cold leftover pizza in the morning.

The second best thing is reheating some Chinese food.

I had chicken fingers, spare ribs and pork fried rice compliments of China Chopsticks located at 148 Granite Street (next to Star Market), Quincy, MA 02169. For pick up or delivery call 617-471-9277.

Yes, I know that by heart.

I know what you are thinking..."Aren't you supposed to be losing some weight in preparation of your buddy's wedding? You whale ass!"

Yes, you're right. I am supposed to be losing some weight before August and yes, my ass does resemble Shamu, thank you very much, but it's a nice ass and I like it. I just need a good kick in it sometimes. I need the movitation!

There were weight standards in the military but I think my motivation was discharged along with me when I got out.

I had to run a mile and a half in less than 15 minutes. I also had to do a certain number of push-ups as well as sit-ups.

Running? Push-ups? Sit-ups?

I get out of breath just taking the elevator down to pick up my paper each morning.

I am getting angina just thinking about all of this.

I did promise Julia we would go to the gym tonight. No lie. However, she makes me take the stairs to the gym and calls me a wus if I want to take the elevator down one floor.

Maybe Julia is now my Drill Sergeant?

Maybe she's the motivation I need?

Well, I will look forward to the gym later right after I take a nap.

This typing is tiring me out.

Beer belliness chapter 4

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

Went to bed last night or shall I say this morning at 0430.

Too much coffee before Interactive News at least it's not beer.

Took a very long nap today and though I did not go to the gym I did housework and chores and believe it or not started to sweat.

I also did make dinner..baked chicken and rice.

I will possibly go to the gym tonight with my girlfriend later.

Thinking about those Labatts in the fridge but held off.

Maybe I am over the hump?

I think I did lose at least 2lbs of unwanted weight..

My girlfriend shaved my back hair in preparation for our trip to Florida in two weeks.

I can't believe some of the shirts I have in my closet actually fit me now.

Beer belly failure

Ok...

I must admit this is harder than expected.

People are counting on me. I am counting on myself but it's hard!!

Very hard!

I just got back from the Braintree Uno.

Did I order a diet coke and salad....NOOOOOO!!

I ordered some goddamn buffalo chicken bites and three large Coors Lights...

A man's meal!!!

It's like I have an angel on my right shoulder saying NO! but the devil on my left shoulder saying YES!!!

I did go to the gym last night but why? I lifted weights for 15 min. and did the step climber thingy for 15.

If it is any consolation..the beers were of the water-down variety.

But your right...I have no will power.

I am not taking this seriously enough.

Can I lose at least 20lbs before August? Do I have it in me?

Will I continue to be a failure?

I need to get focus..

Focus...I'd tell ya!!

Subway tonight...yeah..Subway...that's the ticket..I will get back into it..

What's one day? I will forget about the three beers and the buffalo bites.

Time to move on..

Tomorrow is a new day..

Cue the Star Spangled Banner.

Losing Beer Belliness..a continuation

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)

After some technical difficulties I am back to blogging while eating a ham sandwich on pumpernickel with a side pickle and some low fat...ah..excuse me..40% reduced fat Cape Cod chips..It's 0924...it's my early lunch...

Did have two english muffins this morning with butter and orange marmalade and lots of coffee with fat-free cream though!

Went to the gym last night. Used the step climber thingy...gym equipment is too scientific for me..Used it for 30 minutes and I couldn't walk straight after it using it. I think my ass is still at the gym.

I have not drank a beer since Saturday...ah..make that Sunday.

Do have some Labatts in the fridge but Florida is on my mind...

I not only need to lose weight but maybe I will go and get a back wax before Florida?

I'm sorry my thoughts are taking over this blog.

Gym tonight!

Losing beer belliness

Not sure about the title?

Yeah..me either.

This is my first blog ever and though my goal is to make this as informative and fun as much as possible I am hoping it doesn't show that I have no idea what I am doing!

The purpose of this blog is too keep a running tab on my progress of losing the donut around my waist or my beer belly which ever comes first.

I love Boston but there is at least one fucking Dunkin Donuts on every corner over here and on top of that situation just as many Irish bars. Guiness anyone? I am glad Krispy Kreme went out of fucking business! It would be a losing battle if it didn't.

I was living in Somerville and recently moved to Quincy.

I was living in Somerville and recently moved to Quincy.

It's a long story but I feel it's a start in the right direction.

Olde Magoon's Saloon and Dunkin were just a 6 minute walk from where I lived in Somerville--those bastards!

I now have to drive or take the bus anywhere I need to go.

The convenience isn't there anymore!

This apartment even has a gym and a pool.

There is no excuse of not working out considering I just have to take the elevator one floor

down. Oh yeah...got one of them too...

I will be in Florida from 3/7-3/14. I will also be the best man for my buddy at his wedding in August.

It's probably a little late to get in wicked shape for Florida but I am focused...focused I'd tell ya...focused on August!

Who wants wedding pictures of the best man who looks like a fucking George Constanza impersonator?

Can I do it? Can I stop drinking beers and concentrate on eating healthy?

This will be me my daily confession? Is confession the right word?

I will try to keep you updated on my status and hopefully by doing so, I will see some

changes.
