Since I graduated in late May and didn't move in to Emerson until early September, I had a long summer. It was probably the most relaxing three months of my life. For the first time in years, I didn't have any AP summer reading or sports preseason conditioning to take up time. While I had a job, it was at a summer day camp, so I had all my nights and weekends free.
Throughout the summer, I tried to soak in as much of the sunshine as humanly possible. Since Emerson is about 3,000 miles away from my home in southern California, I knew that I wouldn't be able to come home every weekend to see my family and friends. On a smaller scale, I also knew I wouldn't be able to get authentic carne asada burritos or a Double-Double from In-N-Out.
With those thoughts in mind, I spent the summer enjoying the things I knew I would have to leave in September. I enjoyed home cooked meals with my family and spent a lot of time with my friends. I swam at the beach, went hiking and jumped into a waterfall, slept outside and went stargazing, and enjoyed the time I had with people.
While I was counting down each day and getting more and more excited about Emerson, I tried to live in the moment and appreciate everything.

So who would've thought that my growing insomnia and boredom would lead me to this blog where I would find an entry that lists my goals and concerns for the summer as I prepare to move from SoCal to Boston? Haha not having In-n-Out or authentic Mexican food available is one of my worries, no doubt about it.
But I must say, I am very excited to got to Emerson next year. I'm just afraid I'll miss all the lovely California stuff!
