What happens now?

What are your plans after graduation? What are you doing this summer? What do you want to be when you grow up? I have answered a variation of these questions for the past three weeks. I am thinking of printing out stock business cards to people and handing them out. It is an appropriate question to ask. But I am not sure how to answer it. I mean in this economy who knows what is in store.

When people usually ask me that question I usually say I ...

Housing Selection

I have been fortunate enough to live on campus all four years here at Emerson. My freshman year I was living in an old brownstone on Arlington Street by Back Bay. I was living in a triple with two other wonderful girls. Living in a triple was great because I had two friends right away and I got to know everyone on my floor really well. My freshman year they sold the buildings in the Back Bay and built the Piano Row campus center
on 150 Boylston St...

Life before college...

There are a few moments that stick out in my mind when I think about the summer before college. I remember when I got my roommate assignments early on in the summer. My mom suggested that I call my roommates to coordinate what items to bring. When I called the first name on the list no one answered so I left a message. The second person on the list was a girl named Candace Silva. I remember calling her house and speaking to her mother first. Her mom was...

Summer in the City

The summer is my favorite time of year in Boston. Once May hits the city is an entirely different place. My favorite thing to do in Boston happens during the summer as well. Every summer the Boston Harbor Hotel has their summer series. Every Tuesday they host different R&B and soul singers with their bands. Wednesday nights they have swing bands perform and Thursday nights is a blues band. All of these events occur outdoors on a dock facing the water. <...

How would you like to drive Michelle Obama?

One of the highlights of my Emerson experience was driving to McDonald's to buy Sasha and Malia Obama McDonald's Happy Meals. How did I end up waiting in line at Mickey D's? That is a great question!

A year and a half ago I participated in the Presidential Campaign Semester. For 14 weeks I interned on a Presidential Campaign in Manchester, NH. I chose to work for then Presidential Candidate Barack Obama right before the New Hampshire primary. Af...

My first visit to Emerson

I will never forget my first visit to Emerson College. At the time I was a senior in high school and eighteen years old. During Christmas break my senior year I applied to seven schools in the Boston area. I was living in North Georgia at the time and I was really looking for a change of scenery. I was fortunate enough to be accepted to all the schools I applied to, so during my spring break in April my mom and I flew up to Boston to look at all of them...

A step in the right direction

I have to start out this post saying that there are **I think** 88 days until graduation! What a scary and exciting fact.

As a senior Political Communication student one of the last things you have to do is a capstone project. This can be a service project or outreach initiative, the possibilities are endless. The inspiration for my project came last August when my neighbor was diagnosed with a cancer that attacks his bone marrow. Due to his m...

9 Ways to Prepare for Finals

I found this great article about 9 steps to prepare for finals on fastweb.com. I am going to mix up the order a little bit and write about my personal top 5 ways to prepare for finals. They are as follow:

Tip 1: Start early
I have many horror stories about waiting to the last minute to get my work done. As much as I hate starting early I have learned that it really helps. What has worked best for me is creating a list of things I need to ...

My Favorite Thanksgiving Meal

Next week I will be flying home to Georgia for Thanksgiving and I couldn't be more excited. I love any and all holidays to begin with but I love this one in particular. I love the fact that this holiday falls right before finals. It will give my head a much needed rest before the semester ends. It is crazy to think that this is my last Thanksgiving in college and this winter will be the last time I have a month long winter break. I wonder what I will be...
