Welcome to the next four years of your life...

As I sit here in my room in the Little Building one last time for Senior Week, I can't help think about what I would have done differently if I could do Emerson all over again.

Honestly, not much. I am very happy with the time I spent in Boston, LA, and beyond thanks to Emerson. If there is one major piece of advice I can give you, it is to get involved and do it earlier rather than later. I had my resume filled by the end of my freshman year. I...

Spaghetti, friends, fun, togas, and goodbyes

August 2005, days before the first of my friends left for college. We all knew it was our last time together as a group until winter break so we decided to have a big get together as our last hurrah.

We made reservations at one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to, Max a Mia in Avon, CT, got all dressed up for the occasion, and drove the half hour drive blasting music and having a good time. At the restaurant we had the largest tabl...

All the other bloggers are currently located in Boston, and I am the lucky one out in the 80 degree and sunny Los Angeles, California.

Since arriving here in January, I've tried to take time out of my busy schedule to take in California and some of the great things it has to offer. I've walked beaches and piers, watched a few TV shows, worked on a few tTV shows (American Idol, America's Got Talent, Wipeout), drove to San Diego, got stuck in traf...

I received a comment on an old blog posting of mine. The comment is below, followed by my response. I thought it would be a good response for others to see as well. Enjoy!

Hello Zach!

I have been reading your blogs and must say that you are very happy
with your decision on having attended Emerson College to pursue your
dreams.

My son is waiting patiently to hear from admissions if he has be...

Six years doesn't seem so long ago...

It was six Octobers ago I made my first visit to Emerson. It was the first college I visited, which at times I think may have been a bad idea. I have a horrible memory and cannot remember every detail of my tour, but I do remember walking the halls and believing this was the place I wanted to be.

Having been a TV nerd already in high school, getting to see Emerson's TV Studios (both the DiBona and the Journalism Automated Studios) really made my...

Why would I title my blog entry as such? One simple reason....move to LA. Once you are here, you will say the exact same thing. Even if only the "rich" people in LA could afford the technology, it would clear up so much traffic here.

I was working on Thursday and I was told I could go down to a set that was 10 minutes away...it took me an hour. Really?

-rant over-

Besides the traffic, LA is wonderful and I suggest every Emerson ...

I asked my friend Abbey what I should blog about tonight. The only thing I could think of was leaving, as the semester ended yesterday.

Of course, when she said "how about that you're leaving?" I figured I might as well.

When I came to Emerson I befriended a lot of upperclassmen in the various co-curricular activities I did. Some I never saw again after my freshman year as they graduated and moved on. Others had an extra year, I was able...

I wanted to start off and say sorry...my first two posts got deleted by accident. I want to quickly re-introduce myself. My name is Zach Schiffman. I am a Senior and I created my own major in Television Production & Entertainment Marketing. I grew up in Western Massachusetts and love living in Boston/Cambridge. Television production is my passion. I aspire to be a multi-camera director of live or live-to-tape s...

I woke up this morning to two excellent things. I ordered my first blackberry for 1/2 the price I expected! I cannot wait for Monday to get it in the mail!! I'm a nerd.

But more importantly! I woke up to a phone call from ESPN. I was told that I was a strong candidate to be their stage manager in their new LA production center opening up in January. I have two interviews, but I am SO excited. To leave Emerson with a full time job with ESPN is un...
