Following on the recent release of the Tackboard, Web Services has enabled the ability for department users to syndicate Tackboard posts to their sites using a custom script.   Once a post is approved, it is appended to an RSS feed which can be consumed by Commonspot.  To use

  1. Insert a new element
  2. Select Miscellaneous Elements > Custom Script
  3. Choose cs_consumeEcampusRSS.cfm
This function takes the following parameters:

rssURL - Required. The full url of the blog's xml/rss  [rssURL=http://ecampus.emerson.edu/tackboard/Emerson-College-Bulletin-
Board-Cast.xml ]. All xml files are prefaced with Emerson-College-Bulletin-Board.

maxPosts - Optional. Restricts the number of posts shown. Acceptable values are integers. Defaults to 10.

layoutCol - Optional. Determines the layout of the feed, based on where you put it.  "main" will render the feed in a tabular layout with alternating colors to further delineate rows; right will render the feed as an unordered list.  Please do not choose "main" if you insert the script into a third column.

Posts will appear in the feed so long as they are active (maximum 14 days).  Because the Tackboard content requires successful authentication to view, the feed contains only titles, and all linking directs the user back to the Tackboard.
